The
Hispanic Ministry is a house of friendship and
hospitality, located at 22
5th Avenue North, Cold Spring, MN 56320. It functions under the direction of the outreach program
at St. Boniface Parish in Cold Spring,
Minnesota.
Origins of the
Hispanic Ministry
In February of 1996, there was a recognizable
increase in the number of Hispanics living and
working in Cold Spring and surrounding area. After
relationships with Hispanics began to form,
Francisco Schulte OSB, Renee Domeier OSB, and
others saw the need to work toward integration
within the parish and community. In July of 1998, a
mobile home was rented to serve as a central
meeting place for members of these two
cultures.
In 2004, the
ministry was moved
to its present location in a small house across the street from St.
Boniface Church. Present ministries include Spanish Mass, sacramental
preparation, English classes, interpreting, children activities, job
referrals, social services, and advocacy.
The Multicultural Communities (CGMC) seves the growing needs of the Latino communities of Stearns, Sherburne and Benton County. For sixteen years CGMC has been providing services to the public, aiding with referrals, having educational workshops and engaging the community in civic and economic participation. CGMC is the only Latino resource center in over 16 counties in Central Minnesota that advocates and directly works to empower the Latino community.
